I’d like to tell members of this forum about a new book that is a powerful guide to discovering God on one’s own. Written as a bridge between traditional organized religion and mystical spirituality, God Without Religion invites readers to examine their beliefs and explore the nature of the divine. Author Sankara Saranam (a former monk of the swami order and the son of self-exiled Iraqi Jews) welcomes the reader's willingness to question, and offers seventeen universal techniques for developing a personal relationship with God. The book is an honestly written accounting stemming from Sankara’s deep faith in a higher power, if not necessarily in any one institution that claims to serve a higher power. Called ‘a spiritual masterpiece’ that is ‘a direct path to God’ and a way out of ‘religious shackles and abuse,’ God Without Religion: Questioning Centuries of Accepted Truths was written especially for people who believe organized religion continues as the cause of humanity’s worst wars and most acute suffering, and who seek a more expansive relationship with God. I invite you to learn more at www.godwithoutreligion.com

This is going to be moved to the books section of our board, and the higher ups will decide what to do with it there. I do hope you post more here and you're not just a spam bot.

Hello,
I have been to the God without Religion website and i can tell you what I sense is a great book as well as a great topic for discussion. A believe without all the dogma seems like heaven on earth.

Yeah, but it's not easy. At least by following a book that you have faith in, everything is all set up for you. But if you don't have faith in that book, then naturally, you would look elsewhere.

Oh, Tara, I agree it's not easy. You forget I lived that way for 30 years... 15 of which I specifically resisted Christianity. All I can say is that I now consider those 15 years lost time. I continue in faith by choice, in gratitude and love of God... not because a book says to do so.
You seem to think, though, that it's easier to walk in Christian faith. In one respect, it is -- because of the peace of mind that comes from knowing where Life truly is. But since this world is practically set up to present temptations to people, I would say it's far from easy. That's why it's the "narrow road".

Hello Diane:
It is good to be back here and be a part of this great site. I dont think any religion has a monopoly on God or spirtuality. Isnt that a big problem with religion that they all have to have the truth and noone else does if they dont follow the line. Christianity is a great spiritual path but certainly not the only one out there. The are many paths within Christianity as well. We are all were we are supposed to be at this moment and it is up to the individual go inside and go where that leads them. The higher truths of all the great religions meet at the top. We are all one with God and the kingdom is here and now. My interpertation anyway.
I bless the path you are on Diana

Diana:
That maybe a possilbility but my spiritual life is full of passion and joy. I checked out common misconceptions and for me it is about my relationship to a God of my understanding not anyone elses path. I have to live in my own skin and my own head and what I feel is wisdom from spirit comes to me in many ways, Believe me Diana I am not looking for an easy way out, My spirtual path requires my participation and honesty at a depth that is sometimes difficult to grasp. I fluctuate between love and fear on a daily basis. The only difference is not as much as i used to. Pregress for me is what makes me get up each day. Sometimes i skip and sometimes I trudge.
My best to you Diana Freebird

I like my path because it helps me to be aware of the different elements in my everyday life. It allows me to look within, so that if a problem arises, it is a bit easier to at least have an idea on where to start. Spirit teaches me many different things in different ways. And because answers come to me in so many different ways, this was proof that there is something going on underneath all of this...what we call life. Divine intervention is something I witness almost everyday. Some would say I just know how the patterns of life work. Whether it's true or not, I'd like to keep the faith. That's something I've always had and I've always felt the presence of Spirit.

Hello: The voice of spirit that has always been there but i was too busy or to afraid to recognize what it was. God for me is everywhere present so it is not about this bearded old man siitin in the heavens keepin track of all my sins and waitin to punish me. I believe heaven is a state of mind as well as hell and I experience them both in my life now. Spirit is ever present and always available for consultation. That's cool aint it?

No offense to anyone, but this image right here sounds like a messed up version of Santa Claus Ditto. Although I never really thought of it as 'cool', but simply...reality.

I agree, Tara. And I personally know no one who relates to God like that.

Hello Diana and Tara:
I guess I'm a bit surprised by your posts but that is how i feel about the God that is presented outthere somewhere. To each there own as they say and if that works for you ok by me. To me God is spirit which is a part of us all and all i need to do is recognize that and tap into that power.
The Best To Both of You
