What would you want done with your body when you die?

I will be floated out upon an oaken raft into a lake in southern England. Ten archers, in period clothing with fire flaming arrows at my corpse.

Somewhat unique, you are there Avalon. ;D I would be buried in a coffin, as is the law of the Baha'i Faith. We wear inscribed rings, and must be buried ina coffin of sturdy wood, stone or crystal. The last one makes me wonder how much longer crystal will be that valuable.

No burial for me. Cremation. I woke up this morning with the thought that I would rather be cremated and have the ahses thrown in a river than be buried.

I'm with you Tara...Cremation for me also, because the thoughts of darkness, and being in a casket terrifies me as does bugs eating me...YUCK!

I have a teacher who is directly opposed to he whole idea of cremation, too pagan for him. Am I the only one who thinks that's silly?

I agree. What about it makes it pagan? I mean, yeah... I can see the symbolism, but who said it was pagan?
And I'm with faith, I don't want the bugs eating me, although I'm sure I'd be pretty tasty.

I'm the opposite, I guess. I want the last thing that my friends and relatives to see be me, not a pile of ashes. I don't really care that my body would corrode and be eaten.

Because cremation has just recently been practiced by Christians. Before then it was entirely pagan.

How is it morbid Tara? We're all going to die, someday...maybe I"m the morbid one nvmd? I don't know why Christian belief is like that, because it makes no sense. What about people who were in house fires or blown apart during a war? They don't go to heaven cuz they can't assemble their old body together? My mom about had a cow when I went through my "I wanna be cremated phase". It's normal to be scared of death, as it's something you don't know, not just yet.
Actually, I don't know. I like cemetery looking. But I've heard enough tales of wax ladies, or coffins coming to the surface during the flood, being a health hazard...
On the other hand, I don't want to be in an urn either. I've got a while to make up my mind.
If I have to be buried, the lex would like to be buried in a mask. Because if she comes up, she's going to like to come up like night of the living dead and scare people silly. but that's her own morbidness talking.
Anyway...I don't know, I've got time.

I want my body donated to science. I'd prefer it "plasticized", but I don't think they'll do that with my body. I'd prefer it if they took the organs for donoring, the brain for study, and burned the rest; but honestly, I don't care as long as it's for a greater good.

I'm currently deciding between three options...lol #1 I am cryogenically frozen sometime before death (pref. before I get too old and wrinkly) and am "brought back" in like 25-50 years or so. #2 I am burried in the traditional way -- except that I want a black marble or stone coffin and would prefer to be burried in black, with navy or crimson bedding inside the coffin. -- I come back as a vampire and "live" happily ever after for eternity. ;D or... #3 I am cremated and brought to England or somewhere in the UK (my ancestral homeland) and my ashes are a) thrown out to sea or b) thrown into the wind...or c) snuck onto the grounds of buckingham palace and thrown into the wind there. My urn is then brought back to my town and burried in the cemetary as if it were a coffin. A huge memoral statue of a tiger or something else cool is erected there to commemorate me, irregardless if I did something spectacular. The end. Whatever the final decision, I still plan on coming back in spirit-form to haunt people. I just want to see the look on someone's face as a floating knife or pants or something hovers over them. ;D Oh yeah...no stealing my ideas!

I personally don't think it is. But for one, it get's people's attention to get over here and two I didn't know what else to call it besides stating the obvious. I think it's b/c of that Christian belief that you will be brought back to life come the rapture or something. I always thought the apocolypse(sp?) was always misinterpreted. No, but that must be pretty funny and gross at the same time.
