It's taboo in America... check out this article: 'Breast' cover gets mixed reactionIt's about a magazine cover that showed a woman breastfeeding. Personally, I think that if she's got to breastfeed, then she's got to breastfeed. People have complained that it is too sexual to be doing such a thing in public. And I say it's as sexual as you make it. I mean.. if they find a baby suckling sexual, it would be interesting to know what else would be considered sexual in the minds of these people. I mean, it's not like people are ripping off their shirts and doing it. It seems in most cases, people attempt to be discreet about it anyway.

I voted depends because I have seen women who use breast feeding as an excuse to show off their breasts. these women should not be breast feeding in public because their attitude towards breast feeding isn't about the baby, it is about themselves. Granted this is the exception and not the rule, but it does happen non the less.
More often than not the women I have seen breast feeding in public , most people walk right by them with absolutely no idea what it is that is going on. These women, I believe, should have every right to breast feed in public.

Yes, every time I've seen it the mother has been very discreet. I voted "depends" too -- I would prefer that women cover when they nurse in public, just as I would prefer not to see people's buttocks and stomachs hanging out of their clothing. It's just plain immodest.
(Wow, Poly, we're 2 for 2!)

They should be "allowed to"
Frankly they should keep themselves covered, but given that indecent exposure laws only requite you to wear a few large stickers in public. Breastfeeding is hardly a big part of public decency.
