Here is some info on Panic Disorder. It was on Beliefnet today. Do you think you have it or know anyone who has it?

i know someone who has that, or at least he had it for a time. he's a northern irish guy i know and he just turned 24 at the weekend (like the article says most people develope it before they reach 24). he had a girlfriend for 6 years, or something, and she was the love of his life, but then she broke up with him, went with some other guy for a while, and then went back to him. he said it wasn't the same as before except they tried to pretend it was but he just couldn't get past the fact the she shagged another guy. he went for a few weeks trying to decide whether to give it some time or just break up with her and then he started having panic attacks like the thing describes. he was quite literally heart broken and the whole thing was tearing him apart. eventually he broke up with her for good and now he's back to his usual, northern irish self again

I have a friend who struggles with it, as well as with depression. It's really getting bad too... it is hard to get him out of the house. I looked at the lifestyle suggestions and the only one I know he needs to work on is getting enough sleep. I doubt he sleeps much at all. But he also doesn't eat well. (I know I get a little freaked out if I eat and sleep poorly... There's a lot to be said for simple taking care of oneself.)

I was told that I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I've had it for about six or seven years now. I have panic attacks like what is described in the Beliefnet article and I've managed to control them with the help of medication that seems to work most of the time. Let me tell you, if you have never experienced a panic attack, it is impossible to really know the full extent of it and how completely frightening it is. Even if you're a witness to one.
