I was wondering... do you think procrastination is "evil"? I think I do it a lot, but there are times when I don't end up doing some of the things I put off at all. At other times when I get things done through procrastination on time, I notice I do it extremely well. I've gotten A's on school projects doing them the night before and into the school day, not paying attention to the classes I am in until the class with the project comes along. And if I get kicked out of those classes for doing other class work, hey, more time for me. (I know, bad...)I don't tell my teachers I've procrastinated until I see the A though. ;D I notice though if a techer gives us an assignment to do and I cannot do it right away b/c class time is in the way, then I find I might not do it at all. I think that's bad. Something I found: PRG

I'm a big-time procrastinator, but it's mostly because of the fact that I'm bipolar and my mood changes frequently throughout the day.

I am the definition of procrastination. And though I don't believe in "evil", I do believe it to be harmful to myself. Like, I should have a job and I should be calling up my friends (who are all at college and I'm sort of out-of-sight-out-of-mind with that group), but I just sit in my room all day *thinking* about doing such things, but not. And I wonder why I'm so depressed.

I want to know who clicked the "no" option. Maybe they can help us. (yeah right)

No, it's not evil. I'm the queen of it! J/k j/k. This also could have something to do with the fact that I'd rather be set on fire than give a presentation or anything where I might have to interact with someone.
BLEH. Bleh. Oh yes, and BLEH.

I am most definetly a procrastinator. I am not sure if it's related, but my work ethic is horrible as well. I will leave a project until the last minute, and even then, may be distracted by something else, and not work on the project. The only catch is that I ALWAYS finish the prject. I have never not finished an assignment (school. a larger one anyway). That's just me though. Also, I don't think it's evil. It's a personality flaw, though I don't mind it. It defines who I am, in a way.

Procrastination can be a tough bugger to handle. It feels like a mesmeric suggestion to me saying that sitting on my bum and doing some piddly thing now is better than getting something done that I need to accomplish. From that perspective, the hypnotic suggestion, I'd say it's evil because I didn't ask to be mesmerized, and that's a terrible abuse to manipulate someone or something else. Does anyone else feel like that or am I babbling my fool head off? That said, once I realize that I'm being duped, it's an easy matter to snap out of it.

Are you suggesting evil is an entity in itself?

No, I don't think that evil is an entity, but a suggestion that there is a power besides good. A hypnotized person can be made to believe any number of things: that they're a bird for instance, or that being jabbed with a needle won't hurt. But hypnotism is only a suggestion - the hypnotist cannot make somone do something they truly don't want to do. Similarly, procrastination is a suggestion; but if we are alert to the influence it would try to exert on us, then we don't have to be taken in by it, or we can snap out of it if we find that we have been taken in by it. What do other people think?
