www.ninds.nih.gov/health_and_medical/pubs/carpal_tunnel.htmThis is a warning to folks out there who are computer junkies like myself and my step-mom. My step-mother has had carpal tunnel for a few years now. She is a very rigid type of person who does a lot of intense cleaning (seriously repetitive arm movements) and has spent a lot of times doing data entry types of jobs (which are listed on the fact sheet above as high risk jobs). I have spent many of my waking hours on the computer over the past few years and I'm an extremely tense person (like my step-mom). I began to feel about a year ago random numbness or tingling sensations, esp. in my right pinky. Nowadays the numbness comes along more swiftly and frequently than it did before, my right pinky is barely functional at times, and I will begin to get shooting pain all the way up my arm after hours on the computer. I definitely need some of those wrist-rests for my keyboard and mouse, but please let me serve as a warning for the rest of you folks. If you do a lot of repetitive motion with your arms or tend to be very tense and on the computer a lot, please take care.

I've been getting stuff like that all my life. Never had more than tingling sensations, thouhg. I guess I'm lucky.
