I liked the first few books, but number 4 was really dark (not my style) and really really long even more not my style. I just waited the 4th movie and my wife who has all or near all of them said that the move and book where very different. Personally I would like to see more books like the first few.
Calyrelf, I hear you some people take interesting extremes on the things they view as good or bad. At my sisters private school (a non-denominational Christan one) there was a long discussion about wither to show Harry potter or Lord of the Rings at a school function as one was vary violent, but clear and the other was subtly promoting witchcraft etc.

Ah, LOTR is my favorite set of movies of all time, and yes there are a lot of people who disapprove those also. Sigh.....some people aren't happy unless they find something to be against.

So, you might say that Harry Potter was part of the reason that my religion has turned to a different path than the one I had previously been on. That's part of the reason why the church is so scared.
