My brother and I are talking about going to a midnight HP party and getting the book cheaper(it's at a grocery store a town over).
Course I won't be reading it-I'm going to Nevada next week, but I'll be real anxious to come home and read the whole thing in one sitting.
Two years ago when the last book came out, I went to get my brother's reserved copy with a bum ankle, now you talked about some obsessed folks..
Well do you love the books as much my brother and I or are you hiding under a rock until this weekend blows over and all the potter fans are done reading?

Never bothered to read any of the books. However, I've seen two of the movies. Looks good too.

OH yes, it has-Summer 2003. Well I read it in a day, this newest one..My brother let me read it first because I'm going on that trip. Last time we would have book marks and pick up when the other was done reading for the day. I'm glad he let me, otherwise I would have been gone and have wanted like heck to read it LOL! (i'm not giving anything away, promise)
The HP party last night wasn't much of party, everyone wanted to get their book and leave. There was a plate of cookies, and some juice, not much of a party if you ask me.. Borders though throws a party-games, readings, all sorts of stuff. When the final book comes out we're going to one of those.

That might be fun for you. Are you going to get dressed up and/or get that lightning strike mark on your forehead? ;D

My brother and I will probably do something like that. For the first two movies we dressed up, cloaks, the whole mess.. My brother is 12, and none of his friends are much into HP, and my friends were in to it ...so he enjoyed being in with us nuts and getting to discuss books together.
He's into a lot of great books, some of them I read , some of them I don't. Chronicals of Narnia, Lemony Snicket... I really like Lemony Snicket. He just wants someone to discuss them with...kids should read more.

I originally was the librarian of a very strict Christian-right school. I was asked by several parents why HP was not allowed in the library, and so I brought it up at the PTA meeting to find out what was the premise behind banning HP. I got a lot of rhetoric, but no real answers....mainly people telling me that it was "Satanic." Those same people had, of course, never read it.
It was then and there that I decided to read the first book, and absolutely fell in love with it. At the time I was a Christian Sunday School director and was so appalled by the hatred which the Bible thumpers had for HP, that I decided to speak out in favor of the book. Well, I was sacked from the librarian job......well, not exactly sacked, but conditions were made unbearable enough that I decided to leave the school.
So, you might say that Harry Potter was part of the reason that my religion has turned to a different path than the one I had previously been on.
And I have gotten every single HP book since then, and yes, I had to get it the very first day that Half Blood Prince came out, hehe.
I am wondering if number 7 really WILL be the last one, as Rowling said. She did do one interview in which she said "I very much doubt that there will be a number 8. I think 7 will be it."
Well...that doesn't sound absolutely sure, in my book. So I can't help but wonder. I will be sorry to see the series end, that's for sure.
