I was just curious. Anyone care to discuss their favorites? Why they like/dislike?

I love the books, but the movies sort of ruined them for me by being too commercialized and not accurate in many places.

Nobody else? I would think Pandora would be a LOTR fan somehow...

Oh Pandora just might be ...I like both, but I confess I haven't got very far in the books. That's not to say they aren't good books. I just can't get into them for some reason. I do have the extended editions of every movie and my father is Lord of the Rings fan. He read "the hobbit" to us when we were little and made us watch the cartoon versions of the movies. For some reason I really was afraid of the cartoon version of Gollum, it wasn't until the theatrical versions that I didn't want to go run and hide at the sound of his voice. I don't know what the actor did to make that voice so creepy but it really scared me.

Yeah they really were cute! My father had the old records to the movie as well!

How long has the LOTR thing been out? The Hobbit was the first book right?

Boy I don't even know-I want to think before 1950 to be sure.
Hmmm if you want to discuss favorite characters...it's got to be either Galadriel or Sam. Favorite movie would have to be The Return of the King...but I don't watch the movies a lot because the only way to watch them really is to watch the extended editions and I don't even know how long some of them are.(and if you think I've watched all the extras, think again, because I don't know how many there are on all of them) I didn't like "the fellowship of the ring" the first time I saw it, there wasn't enough introduction into the hobbits themselves....got the extended editions and was pleased enough.
