I would argue that reverse discrimination is far worse than the long standing ones.
Many long standing discriminations are a result of circumstance or ignorance. The average man has more raw strength than the average women. It has only been in the past 150 yeas or so that very many jobs required more brains than brawn. Thus a society in the past could assume that men are more fit for work than women. We must also remember that education for the masses is a very new concept. Similar things occurred with the slaves in America. Few where educated beyond how to work. When they where free they had few skills beyond the farm and if any efforts where made to educate them in mass it did not work out too well. This made for a large group of uneducated persons who had fewer job options and less money. This cycle is still going. This is a big problem and needs to be fixed. It came about in large part because of how life was.
Reverse discrimination however is not a result of how life is. It is not a result of ignorance. It does not come about because a group lacks education or other qualifications to get the job done and people assumed that the group never would get those qualifications. Reverse discrimination is a deliberate attempt to harm a group because of the actions of others in that group.
It is wrong to punish me for what another white guy who I might not be related to did.
African Americans have suffered because their ancestors where miss treated, but two wrongs don't make a right. It is one thing to be a jerk and limit someone ability to grow and achieve. It is something far worse when one who has suffered turns around and commits the same sin. They certainly should know better. They can not be ignorant of the choices they are making.
I am by no means calling all white males of the past saints, but I did not commit their sins. So why do those who clam to have suffered from those sins wish to punish the Innocent?
