Man, that sucks. But how did they know it was Al Quaeda, just b/c of a website?

no, there's some skepticism about the website, it's just the way that the attacks were carried out, it was in typical al quaeda style - multiple explosions all co-ordinated to go off at once (just like the bombings in madrid over a year ago).
the death toll is rising, however, and it's up to something like 35 at the moment with hundreds being treated in hospital for injuries.

I am so sorry and glad to know you're ok..my prayers and thoughts are with everyone over there.
They were saying on the news that some people at the G8 had been warned that something was going to go on, I wish they could have warned everybody. Hopefully something will come about in the government to have a better warning system that would not spread panic but would keep the people safe.

What happened is absolutely horrible. I am very sad for the families of those who were killed, and very angry at the people who pulled off the attack.

As I have mentioned on other forums:
The Mind Boggles.
Just have to sit back and wait to see what the "official" declaration is as to who is 'responsible'. But the really interesting fact is that we the little people will have to take the word of the governments as to who is responsible.
And everyone knows that governments do not lie.

On one hand, I hope it wasn't the al-Qaeda because I'd hate to have it fuel more hatred and misunderstanding of Islam and Muslims...not to mention George Bush and his 'war on terror.' However, if it was the al-Quaeda, then at least we know who or what we're dealing with.

And if it wasn't, then there is a whole new ball game to play...

i don't think the government has mentioned al quaeda as definitely being behind it, but the bbc says that everything about it is typical of an al quaeda attack. the death toll has risen and it's expected to be around 50+ when they finally get everything sorted out. it's difficult to determine at the moment because one of the trains that was blown up is hard to get to or something, i'm not sure of the details but basically there's still undiscovered dead bodies lying around in the london underground nobody i've spoken to about it thinks anything less about islam, but one of the top islams in Britain has spoken out to say that they are just as appalled by this as everyone else and tony blair has stated that this has nothing to do with islam either.

just an update: the group that claims to have carried out the attack calls itself "The Secret Organisation Group of Al-Qa'ida of Jihad Organisation in Europe". it's likely that it's affiliated with the Al-Qaeda that Osama Bin Ladin heads, but no-ones really sure how it's all linked together or who gave the orders to carry it out etc.
they had this message posted on their website: In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate, may peace be upon the cheerful one and undaunted fighter, Prophet Muhammad, God's peace be upon him.
Nation of Islam and Arab nation: Rejoice for it is time to take revenge against the British Zionist Crusader government in retaliation for the massacres Britain is committing in Iraq and Afghanistan. The heroic mujahideen have carried out a blessed raid in London. Britain is now burning with fear, terror and panic in its northern, southern, eastern, and western quarters.
We have repeatedly warned the British Government and people. We have fulfilled our promise and carried out our blessed military raid in Britain after our mujahideen exerted strenuous efforts over a long period of time to ensure the success of the raid.
We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all the Crusader governments that they will be punished in the same way if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He who warns is excused.

It's especially sad that it was timed to be on the day of the G8 summit
