There are people out there that will fall for anything!
My favorite auction items are the mystery envelope that sold for thousands, the haunted ghost cane, and the supernatural entity caught in a jar.

mystery envelope ... just a stamped envelope with no address or something? people really are dumb if someone actually paid money for that ...

It was an envelope with no clues as to what was inside; I can't remember exactly but I think it sold for around $5000.

The seller claimed it was valuable, but then again, they could have been lying. Not to mention something one person considers valuable might be junk to another.

I’ve heard of people paying tons of money for half eaten sandwiches and used hankies. That is junk to you and me, but a collectors item if you are obsessed with the movie star that had them first.
I guess people are free to throw away their money as they see fit, but I can think of a lot of noble causes or even just saving it for a rainy day.

Appearantly money can't buy brains. Even if I had cash coming out of my every orifice, I wouldn't spend $5000 on a mystery envelope.
