I'm not sure if it's more prevelant in religious groups or just people in general about the end of the world. But I got to thinking the other day... this talk about the end of the world... are people living in societies where time is not linear focusing on this stuff? For example, in India, people see time as circular (is that the word). Would all this talk of the end of the world mean anything to them?

Actually, yes. They have a prophecy that Vishnu (I think that is the rigth one) will come and destroy the world, then Brahman will remake, into a wondrous and glorious age. However, from what I have seen, they tend to obsess over it less, as it seems that its not as drastic as Revelations. End Time talk is not new in any way, though. Basically, its been constantly believed by at least a small group of people that the end of the world could come, quite literally, in a few weeks. Some of the "later" early christians were like that.

I believe it is trivial to ponder such things, as, ' the end of the world'.....it creates anxiety and seperateness from the moment for most people.
Is the end of the world....the end of the human race? Or is the end of the world, the end of the world?
Science has estimated that a dying sun becomes a black whole....as it dies it sucks in all of it's galaxy and a few passing by things and condenses dwon to a very weighty grain of sand......perhaps a seed?
The end of our world, will undoubtedly be at such a time. Will that be the end or the potential for a new begining?
The Earth was seeded by comets that carried the DNA of life that then was fostered here in Earth's nurturing enviornment.
I do not think any part of creation is ever intirely erased, it lives on in the smallest of smalls.....no matter how small something can get, it still exsists.
A common thread with spiritual practices is to intitiate peoples consciousness to the awareness of thier soul as immortal or indistructable. This TEXT a given but it seems we do not think large enough, that it is brought around to our consciousness as one of the mysteries ( because indeed it is a mystery but VALID; even science supports this ).
Perhaps it is not God in the clouds or any of the numerous other ways inwhich the human race has depicted the Devine through art but perhaps the true face of God is the Universe. Speaking of which go to Nasa website and look up eye of God....Wowsa, very cool image. Anyways, we of little faith think in small restrcited circles, in narrow pounds and have a need for neat little packages.....Creation and God/Goddess/Devine ar none of these....suspend your disbelief a little, expand your conciousness, relax the brain muscle and just be, just breath, taste, love, laugh and be amased at the wonder and beauty of it all, just for even brief moments. There really is nothing required of any of us that is not what is already within our true nature. There is nothing bigger than the Universe and we are craddeled in it!
Just my two cents!
