This is a question that many haave asked. Is God this cruel unforgiving person? Is he really just ready to kill all who oppose him? For these answers we must look to the Word of God. If you were to read the major prophets of the Old Testament you will find alot of judgment and condemnation in there. But where does this judgment come from? Why is God so angry with his chosen people? He calls Israel a harlot in the book of Isaiah. And he calls Judah her treacherus sister. These are some harsh words. God says he will lay them all to waste. In Jerimiah he tells the prophet not ot pray for this people. But why? Is God really so cruel? Or is it that he gave them hundreds of years to repent. As he did the Canaanites. How ong was Israel in Egypt as slaves before God called them out(something like 400 years)and then not to mention the 80 years in the wilderness(40 years to get to canaan land, and then anther 40 years until the generation of disbelief perished). So they had all of those years to turn from their wicked ways. However they just got worse. They would sacrifice their babies to a god by the name of Molech. They would live in immorality and spit in the face of God's mercy. So finally justgment came. There was mass genocide. But a few were saved because of their faith in the true and living God(Rahab and her family were saved because of her faith in God. Because she helped his people). And then Israel prospered for many hundreds of years. But then when the kings came along. And you read about Rehaboam and then the wicked kings of Israel(Ahab and many others). How that they began to worship the gods of the Ammonites and the Moabites. How they were even sacrificing their babies to the god Molech(this is refered to as passing them through the fire). How could a just God suffer this forever? Did god really have a choice in the matter? Is God going to judge America for her turning away from him? What are your thoughts on this? the wheels of God's judgment turn slowly. But they do turn surely.
