I forget where I read this... I think it was on one of those calendars that have interesting notesd of the day. You know...those little tear off office calendars. Anyway, I read that the fruit that eve ate was most likely a pomegranite...something about the area. I'll be able to get my hands on the calendar soon (I don't have it available at the moment) so I'll bring more info about the area in which Eve and Adam had existed. Has anyone heard of this as a possiblity before?

The story is a bit strange in the fact that...why would Adam and Eve....nevermind. ;D I was going to wonder why they didn't look at their arm when they ate other fruits (assuming that they must have had to).
The commentary was interesting in the second link.

Given the huge amount of symbolism in the entire story I'd have to say trying to guess what the fruit was is not going to get us anywhere.

Well, I just thought it would be something interesting. It would definately change the way Adam and eve are portrayed in art. I went to a muesuem recently and one of my favorite pieces there was a sculture of Eve. It was called, "Eve Repentant". I don't remember who it was by. But the sculture had the snake and the apple. There is always an apple in the art that protrays Eve.

I suppose if the bible pictures had been painted in a tropical climate a different fruit would have been more likely used. I think Mango’s would work well.
