Just curious. I've never played the thing and it's been out for quite a long time. I was just wondering what people think of the system and the games offered on it. (Like the legendary Halo)

i think it's pretty cool but i wouldn't buy a games console myself because they always seem to be outdated after about a year. the x-box has lasted a few years, though, and it's still good fun. a few of my friends have them and we've played halo and halo 2 online and stuff, it's really cool. it's funny going from halo 2 back to halo 1 cos it's so much slower but at the same time hilarious ;D
i don't like original big controllers, but the smaller ones they released later aren't bad. the people i know who have an x-box prefer the bigger ones for some reason ... and i definitely wouldn't buy an x-box now, seeing as there's a new one coming out soon.

Yes San Andreas is totally different and I love this one out of all of them. None of them even compare to what this one allows you to do and you get to buy clothes, food, pimp out your ride etc..

Ohh I knew that, well I have not seen it running in action on the PS2 but I have played the first GTA on PS2 then Xbox and IMO there is some difference but only if you have a good enough tv to make it worth it.

i've seen it played on PS2 and a good PC (with all the graphics turned up full) and the only difference i can make out is that the resolution is a bit better (tv's can only do 640x480 but it was running at 1024x768 on the PC i think). it's not really that important on the tv, though, cos you don't usually sit as close to the tv as you do with the computer screen.
also it's much easier using the mouse to aim (on the PC) than the analogue sticks on the console controllers.

I prefer analogue sticks. I can't imagine playing a game like GTA on PC. I like having the controller better.

i was brought up playing first person shooters on the PC with the mouse to aim. the analogue stick is better than using the keyboard or a big joystick even but it's nothing compared to the mouse. you should try half-life 2 and play that until you get good with the mouse, and then play it online until you master the different deathmatch techniques (eg. circle strafing) and then go back to playing halo and you'll see what i mean. as i always say to my friends with x-boxes as they thrash me at halo: "if i had a mouse i'd totally kick your ass" ... they never believe, but it's true GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas are completely different on the PC. with the PS2 you push a button to target an enemy and it locks on, or you can push a button to aim manually and use your analogue stick, is that right? on the PC you don't get the lock on thing but you push the right mouse button to bring out your gun and you get a target reticle which you aim using your mouse. it's so much easier for head-shots etc. the rest of the game is controlled via the keyboard (ie. driving around) the mouse is only used for looking around or aiming your gun and it's a lot easier.

See, like the person who loves to drive a standard than to drive an automatic, I'd like to control when the gun zooms in and/or targets you know

perhaps you should try it on the PC before you decide which you prefer the mouse is better for aiming than the analogue stick, it's a fact. you can use either on the PC for games like quake, counter-strike and probably GTA as well but people always opt for the mouse ... and for the record i prefer manual transmission cars

I've tried shooting games on PC and let me tell you, I don't like it.
What I did have was this cool controller that looked similar to the N64 controller that you can hook up to the PC and play like it's real videogames. The problem was, all the PC games I had weren't cool enough for the controller. So I ended up giving it away.

i think those sort of controllers are meant for emulators that you can download. except it's illegal to do so if you don't own the original games on the original consoles, so i guess they wouldn't advertise it like that in case they are accused of encouraging illegal activities ... or something ...
the mouse and keyboard are the best for shooting games where you have to aim yourself. i can imagine that tomb raider is better on the playstation than on the PC, but there's no way that the x-box controller is better than the mouse and keyboard for games like halo.

I'd say if you are looking to purchase... wait till the Xbox 360 comes out or the PS3 comes out in the winter... but I play Xbox when I'm with those who play, but other than that... I don't ever play, mainly because I am outside more... but thats beside the point.
