not that i'm a big american football fan, but here's a very interesting thing i discovered in my local newspaper ... the Kansas City Chiefs will have a new kicker in their team this season from Scotland not only that, but he's from my home town of 60,000, Greenock he played a season for the Scottish Claymores, and then 2 seasons for Ottawa in the Canadian Football League and now the Chiefs have picked him up - so look out for him if you can ;D

has anyone seen this guy in action yet? he seems to be doing very well (mon the chiefs!) ;D here is an updated link since the other one doesn't work. also, i exaggerated in my original post, Greenock only holds about 40,000 (hence it's even better that he comes from the same place as me )

I've seen him play. He's a newbie (my words - my wife has higher expectations for him). Fan's opinion so far is "Let's see what he can do". So far so good. But on the whole, the team is not doing very well. There was only one season I recall where the Kicker 'saved the day". Perhaps that will be Lawrence's calling. I don't think folk here in KC even think about where he was born. If he kicks for KC, he's a 'home boy". Fact is he came to the US when he was 10 years old. He lives in Overland Park. Thats where I live! Here is a good link for you to read: www.kcchiefs.com/player/lawrence_tynes/KC folk still hold, in highest esteem, Jan Stenerud who was born in Norway. Even then, we never even concered ourselves where "Jan" came from. America is full of people from 'other countries'. Jan was a "Chief" and that is all that mattered. Shalom

yeah, i found that link too (i linked it in my last post under the "here" part). i already knew that he went to highschool and college in the USA, but he still gives Greenock as his home town, so that's good enough for me reading the info on that link it seems like he's got quite a lot to be proud of - connecting with his first 50+ yard field goal attempt, tied for the highest seasonal points total in chiefs history, sending kick-offs into the 10-yard line etc. good on him, i say have there been any other scottish players in the NFL? i'll go check and find out for you ;D
