I think its senseless and proves the bullheaded-ness of Israel. I don't support either Hezbollah or Israel, but my support does go out to the civilians of Lebanon. I could understand Israel's position if it were the whole country of Lebanon acting, but the government is not involved and just wants peace, therefore the civilians become victims of a ridiculously one-sided war.
Here's hoping the ceasefire on Monday is actually honored.

Moonchain I think I agree with you.
All this started because of 3 kidnapped Israeli soldiers. I think Israel suffers from somekind of Holocaust Paranoia. I wonder if the Israelis believe that all the soldiers and civilians they've lost is worth it?
Israel is mass murdering civilians regardless of religion or whether or not they support Hezbollah. Many Christians live in Lebanon and they are also being directly affected by this war.
I dont support Israel and I dont support Hezbollah but as long as Israel bombs and enters Lebanon then I believe Hezbollah has the right to fight against Israeli occupation.
I think Israel has realised that war isnt easy, maybe they will learn lessons before even dreaming about a war against Iran?
I hope for a lasting peace...

I'd like peace too, but I don't think it will happen. too many people on both sides have issues they can't let go of.

I agree with teacum79.
I will even take it a step further by addin that so long as both Isreal and Hezbollah are going out of their way to be offended by the other there will never be peace.
What strikes me as interesting is the media coverage on Ms. Rice . Is she truley taking the attitude that she will be able to force a cease fire or is this the media presenting it that way?

Israel is offended by Hezbollahs existance and Hezbollah are offended by the illegal Israel invasion of Lebanon. I wonder how Israel and Hezbollah can negotiate? PolyTheist Condy Rice wants to give this idea that her and the US administration want peace but how is that the case when the USA is currently supplying Israel ( via the UK) the bombs that they drop on Lebanon? I wonder if she thinks she has credibility? www.indymedia.org.uk/images/2006/08/347797.jpg
