I've been watching the news a bit this week and apparently there is a bill that would require church charities to see documentation of a person legal status before giving them aid. failing to do so would place the church in legal trouble. Now I'm as opposed to illegal immigration as anyone I've meet, but last I checked we had a separation of Church and state in this county. What do you guys think www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,188000,00.html there is a video link with this article.

Churches benefit from other laws (tax exemption, for instance). It's a difficult question. But I'm in agreement that we don't need to pass further legislation controlling what churches do.
When I worked in a church office, there was a "clearinghouse" that all requests for aid went through. They were responsible for checking into all of that stuff so that the churches didn't have to. (This also prevented people from being able to bounce from one church to another making multiple requests to meet the same need -- which actually was a very frequent occurrence.)

There is a current push for seperation of church and state. However, the church still has to obey the law.
This one is going a bit overboard, though. At least in my opinion.
It is one thing to assist illegal imigrants into the country, but how can anyone expect people to turn a blind eye to them once they are here? Especially a church.
