Well, we aren't. We're a republic. Sure, a democratic republic, but still a republic. True democracy wouldn't work -- we'd all die of starvation from doing nothing but voting.

so what are your reasons for saying it's not a democracy?
i've heard about some new vote-counting machines which leave no paper trail (the numbers coming out have no physical source, they could be totally made up!)
the machines are made by the manufacturers of atm machines which do leave a paper trail, so there's no reason why they couldn't have made it capable of leaving a paper trail ...
also, the company is supposed to be pro-bush, so who knows what it could be up to (anyone know what i'm talking about? i'm not making this up, i read it somewhere ... maybe it was a link from this website actually ... )
