What are your thoughts on the tsunami? How do you think this will affect other countries around the world? Especially countries who depend on the sweat shops in those areas...
I heard about how the animals knew that it was going to happen and in some cases, tried to help the humans.
And on a religious/spiritual note, do you think Divinity has played a role in this?

Well I certainly don't think the sweat-shops are any loss. But anyway, I think it's aweful, obviously. We have quite a number of Canadians missing...I haven't really read much on it. I mean, what can you say about a natural disaster? It's disheartening, but nature is nature, you know? Live near a lake and well, expect that stuff to happen. It's the same with people who choose to live near a volcano. I feel badly for them, and for what happened, but on some level it's just like, well what did you expect?

It's awful. Just, mindblowing.
And I hope that's all that happens, it totally scares me that something that powerful could happen, and wipe out people that quickly.

I feel bad for the people. I looked at pictures in Newsweek magazine. First an earthquake and then the tsunami/tidal wave. It was b/c of the earthquake that caused this, right? Was it the earthquake that made a rift valley in the ocean floor or something like that?

Yes. A shift in the ground beneath water can cause the water to be pushed upwards, resulting in a tsunami. That's why you often find tsunamis happening in places where earthquakes are common.

Hi All,
It seems so senseless and random; a horrible waste of life and property. It’s hard not to notice that the devastation left in the wake of a tsunami makes 9/11 look like a mere traffic accident! We are stunned. Devastated by the incredible loss of life. Why did so many people have to die on that day and in those places? This damage was caused not by civil unrest but by a natural disaster of biblical proportions. Is God trying to tell us something? Is the Earth giving us a warning? I think we first need to put the relationship between God, the Earth and humanity into its proper perspective before we can even begin to approach understanding something like this.
Anyone want give it a try?

Well, some people believe that God caused such a disaster because He was angry with the people and wanted to teach a lesson. Others would say that God causes such things to happen to test people's faith. Others think that it is Mother Nature expressing Her anger to the world because we have mistreated Her. And there are people who ask, why put Divinity into it at all? Why can't something bad happen and it actually be a natural scheme in the way things work? The natural circle of life? BTW, welcome to Divine Whispers

here's what i think: it sucks, but to put it into some sort of perspective, 30,000 africans die of starvation each day. it still sucks, but so do other things

Well, that's true, people die every single day and sometimes there's no stopping it.
It's just when it happens like that, all at once...
Things like this though affirmed that I'm going to work for the red cross once I get done with my schooling.
I don't want to even enter God in it, sounds really..I dont' know what the word would be, but to kill people to teach a lesson? sounds very vengeful to me. .
