I don't know, maybe they felt like they had no money togive, you know how this country is struggling right now. Not that they don't of course in their hearts want to do something.

well, it depends what you class as a prayer - most people probably thought "Oh God, i hope those people get all the aid they can" ... is that a prayer? it's easier to sit on your arse and think something along those lines than actually fork out some cash.
i put some money in a collection box in a supermarket last week, but it was only some loose change i had in my pocket (that i found on the floor of a lecture theatre - not even my money) but i need my proper cash for myself (the £5 and £10 notes) and what difference will it really make if i put in an extra couple of quid?
i mean, the difference made by me personally putting in £3 and £50 is very small seeing as they are needing countless billions of aid in total, so why should i give so much (and £50 is a lot of money to me - that's food for a month or more) for all the difference it makes?
i know every little helps, and the stuff above isn't exactly what i think (i'm just putting it forward for argument's sake) but this is undoubtedly what's going through a lot of people's heads, and i think that's why more "prayer" is offered than cash.
