Newsweek Retracts Story on Qur'an DesecrationNational Security Adviser Stephen Hadley says allegations are being investigated 'vigorously.'
May 16, NEW YORK - Newsweek magazine, under fire for publishing a story that led to deadly protests in Afghanistan, said Monday it was retracting its report that a military probe had found evidence of desecration of the Quran by U.S. interrogators at Guantanamo Bay.
Earlier Monday, Bush administration officials had brushed off an apology that Newsweek's editor Mark Whitaker had made in an editor's note and criticized the magazine's handling of the story. ยป more

"People need to be very careful about what they say, just as they need to be careful about what they do."Yeah Rumsfeld. *shakes head* Look, we all know that people are doing the Qur'an desecrations on purpose and now they're all trying to look innocent like nothing ever happend. How can people aronud the world believe us when we have been in trouble before when it came to respecting other people? Abu Gharaib anyone?

although it is certainly disrespectful and definately something they need to be reprimanded for, war makes people do unbelievable things. I'm not justifying the torture in the prisons either, we're Americans, we're supposed to be above that. Guess we're not. Bet if they caught anyone they just got a slap on the wrist.

I watched a documentary concerning Guantanamo Bay and let me tell you, it was sick and I wouldn't in the least bit be surprised if the allegations were true.

But some people thought that Newsweek was wrong and they weren't sure if they entirely believed it when Newsweek said that their article was approved by the Pentegon.
