I figured I could pass on some information and refer anyone who is interesting in getting a new addition to the family to the following sites (mainly geared towards dogs): No Puppy MillsLooking into pet shops? Check out the Better Business Bureau to make sure they aren't "evil". PetFinder is a good place to check out if you're interested in adopting a pet in need of a home. They also provide listings for shelter groups and such if anyoen is intersted. I encourage people to post up shelter and adoption services if they know of any.

I'll need to go on a search for it, but In Texas at least, when you adopt an animal from a shelter you have to have the animal fixed within six months of bringing the pet home, and have to have all their shots done within a few months of having the animal. If you do not do these things, they will come and get the pet. (Let me tell you though, fixing Angel was a blessing...male cats who spray...he was about to drive me crazy)
I think it's wise there's too many animals that go unloved, not to mention some that have litter after litter, poor creatures and souls.
While we've all seen kitties and pups in pet stores in the mall we'd love to take home, most of them come from puppy mills-adopt from a shelter, you're saving a life, and it's less expensive.
