If anybody on here can help me... I recently got a mini iPod as a gift. I put the cd in my computer and it's formatted to work with Windows XP. Fine. But I'm sad b/c iTunes (the program used to help load music into the iPod) and QuickTime work together to help put music on my iPod, but I've always had trouble with my QuickTime. It's outdated and needs to be updated (I bought my computer about 2 years ago and I just decided to get it to go online about 2 months ago so I've been updating my Anti-virus and getting service packs, etc.). So when I attempted to get the updates for QuickTime, I get this stupid error message that says: "The application or DLL C:/WINNT/system32/QuickTime.qts is not a valid windows image. Please check against your windows installation diskette". So I close that window and I get error 2093 which says that QuickTime failed to initialize. I get the same whenever I tried to openup iTunes, so that's how I figured out they work together. However, I have another QuickTime called QuickTime for Windows and that works fine. Except, it's not the QuickTime that I bump into on websites. When I get Firefox to search for the latest plug-in, gues what comes up? Apple QuickTime. So I click on that and it says, it's not available and it directs me to the main site. Then I get lost. b/c I'm not sure which QuickTime to download... I want to be able to update and get the latest in QuickTime. Last time I downloaded an update, that same stupid message came up and the application never opens.

can you uninstall quicktime altogether (like, go into add/remove programs from the control panel) and then re-install the full new version, rather than trying to update your old version? if the worst comes to the worst and you can't use your iPod until it's fixed, you could try re-installing windows and then download and install all your stuff again ... it's pretty drastic but it usually does the trick with my computer (i've done it about 4 or 5 times overall, it always runs super-fast after a fresh install too, it's cool . i'm no expert but that's what i'd try at least

No reinstalling windows for me. I don't want to take that chance. I wanted to completely get rid of every single QuickTime on my computer, but I was afriad that might cause trouble for some programs and websites I use.

This says you need Quicktime 6.5.2 for iTunes 4.8... but it says it's included. Are you using version 4.8 of iTunes? Maybe you could download and install it from that site...

Well praise the Lord! I will try it later when I'm in the mood to see if that works. My computer has never had an error message that was as annoying as this one.

It worked! Instead of downloading the file from the website, I put the cd that came with my iPod and searched through it until I found the setup file. Then it did a little "repairing and restoring" and I was able to open up the program. Thanks diana.
