If I had to guess, I'd say he thinks my comments were a result of emotion rather than logic. But that's not accurate... I just stated logical conclusions derived from his previous statements -- I did not speculate as to his beliefs. (Though I'm sure he would make a case that my arguments are based on false premises... such as "Life is a gift from God" and "Life is sacred" and "Children are gifts from God", etc... that is our fundamental disagreement.)

I know this topic was sooo long ago and people probably don't want to hear it anymore, but I'm doing a paper on assisted suicide for my writing class. And Terri's case will be mentioned in my paper to show how much of an issue it is under certain circumstances. Anyway, I reemmber in this thread we talked about how a person like her would have two death dates on their marker. So I found this at Wikipedia.

I tend to find the "I kept my promise" on the bottom to be a slap in the face of her parents. But that seems to be the way those people talked and dealt with one another.

I thought the "I kept my promise" was a religious thing.

I read it the same way PolyTheist did. Michael Schaivo's whole big thing was that he'd supposedly promised Terry not to let her be kept alive on life support.

Oooh... that is a slap in the face to the parents. I totally agree with Poly, that shouldn't be there.

And I'm glad she's in a better place not having to hear it.
