surprisingly it's saying stuff i already knew ... stuff like "stop trying to impress her and you will end up impressing her the most" etc. like i said before, i have no problem talking to girls and plenty of girls seem to like me, it's just when it comes to asking them out i'm never confident enough that she'll say yes ... it's a curse

today i'm happy, and it's because i got the number of the girl i like last night, i'll tell you what happened ... last week i promised a guy that i'd go to his party last night, though i wasn't particularly keen. then during the week the girl i like told me to come by her work (in a pub) last night and she'd pour me a free drink, but i was already obliged to attend this party so i told her i probably couldn't make it (drat!). what eventually happened was that i wasn't going to leave for the party until about 10pm, so i decided to go by the pub at 9 to say hello and there she was, very happy and surprised to see me (yay!). she poured me a free half-pint of lager (only a half cos i was driving) and before i left i made sure i got her number, which she was only too happy to share (cue fanfare!). so yeah, i'm very happy now i'll give her a ring next time i'm going out (probably tuesday, but i'll ring her tomorrow to make sure) and see what she's up to: if she's working then i'll go to the pub to see her, if she's not then she can come out on the town with me and fun will be had by all ;D

You better hope she didn't give you the rejection line! lol I'm only kidding, from what you've said, she probably didn't. And besides, do you even have that up there in Scotland? Here in the U.S. we do. It's a number you give to someone whom you don't want your real number for whatever reason. I'm not sure if there exists a website about it or not. Has anyone else on the forum heard about this number? I'd most definately freely give it, people suck. lol

hah, i'm sure there's probably something like it in the UK, though i haven't heard of it before ... wouldn't people recognise the number then confront you when you give it to them? might not be a good idea to piss off drunk hooligans like that ...
she was saying that she'd see me again soon and stuff, so i see no reason why she should give me a fake number. i also realised as i was looking at her behind the bar that she has a really hot body ... well out of my league ... i guess it must have been my irresistable charm and "interesting" looks that impressed her so much ;D

i sent her a txt to see what she's up to tomorrow night (i'm going out with some friends, and my plan is to invite her along if she isn't working, or go and visit her if she is working) and that was about 6 hours ago, but she hasn't replied ... argh! so frustrating ... i'll be delighted if she replies before tomorrow night but i'm not going to send another txt or phone her because i don't want to seem like a stalker ... maybe it was the rejection line she gave me after all (thanks for putting that possibility in my mind ) UPDATE: everything's fine, she replied last night as i was going to bed, except i won't be able to see her tonight cos she's not in edinburgh (d'oh) i hope she doesn't see this ... that would be embarrassing ;D

i'll tell you what happened tonight then ... number in hand, i decide to txt her (at about 8.30pm) to see if she's working tonight and i'll pop in to see her. she doesn't reply. so i sit at home going crazy like i did last time i posted on here wondering why she isn't replying (i should really stop txting like that, it only makes me feel like shít) and eventually decide to go out for a drive to clear my head (and if she replies while i'm out driving then i can pop in on my way back). i drive for an hour round the city, exploring new backroads and shortcuts, and there's no reply, so i return home (after all, i don't even know if she is working tonight). i sit at home and i have a constant nagging feeling that i should be doing something other than farting about on the computer listening to music (it's about 10.30pm at this point). i eventually decide that enough is enough, i'll kick myself if i don't at least go down to her pub - if she's not working i can walk straight back out, if she is then i can say hello (the last time i was in was saturday, it's not like i go in EVERY* night and annoy her or anything). so i go down after about half an hour of procrastination** i go in and she's working, she says hello, pours me a free pint and asks how my day's been, i tell her i've done nothing all day and it's been really boring but it's better than exams, and she agrees, saying something about how good it is to have no stress (i think ... she talks quite quiet and i can hardly ever make out what she's saying). i start to drink my drink and she goes and takes other orders at the bar, fine, she's just doing her job ... but then there's no-one at the bar and she goes and talks to her other friends leaving me on my own. i sit there feeling and probably looking like a complete tit. i txt a few people on my phone to pass the time (probably looking like even more of a loser) and i finish my drink. someone replies saying he's passing by so he's gonna come in for a drink and i tell the girl that i'm gonna wait outside cos it's just depressing sitting on my own - she doesn't seem to mind, she's talking to her mates. i leave saying "see you soon" which is something she always says when we depart company (it was unintentional, but it was a nice touch and i think it'll stick in her mind). i wait outside for 10-15 minutes while drunk people walk past giving me funny looks (it can be intimidating, but i've learned not to make eye-contact) and eventually he comes. i'd told him about this girl before and he's keen to see her so we walk in and get a couple of cokes (he doesn't drink and if i drink any more i'll be over the legal limit for driving) and i say to her "i'll pay for these this time" and she gives me a naughty look (that's the best i can describe it, not exactly a nasty look, just one that says, "aye, cheers ... "). she says it's cheaper to get bottles than draft, so we get that and she leaves us to drink them (the bar is a bit busier now - it's about 11.45pm by this time). my buddy tells me a bit about the new star wars film he's just seen, he says it's much better than the previous two films and even throws in a few spoilers (arsehole). he looks her up and down and agrees that she's absolutely stunning and encouragingly tells me "don't get your hopes up" ... we devise a plan for me to ask her out - after we finish our drinks he'll leave first and wait outside while i ask her out. i agree, we finish, he leaves, i try and get her attention. i eventually do and tell her i'm going, i wish her all the best on her trip to amsterdam next week and tell her to "gie us a phone" when she gets back (that means "give me a ring" in scottish ) and she smiles and nods saying "i'll do that" ... i think ... she spoke very quietly as she was walking away (though encouragingly, she kept eye-contact). i leave feeling relatively happy, although i'm still not certain she's quite as into me as i'm into her at least i saw her and she seemed happy to see me. all in all i think i made the most out of a shít night. as i'm walking back to my car to drive home my mate tells me that while we were talking she was looking over every now and then to see if i was looking back (which i wasn't). so i'm a bit pissed off that i might have made her feel as stupid as i felt when she was ignoring me ... but hey, she wouldn't have been looking over if she wasn't interested would she? * how do you do italics on here? i tried [ i ] text [ /i ] but it just disappeared when i previewed it? ** here's a real-life example of me over-thinking again PS. i'm sorry if i sound like a complete loser, i'm not really, i'm just giving you all the inner workings of my mind. maybe you women might better understand how hard you make things for us poor guys

She had friends to talk to you know. But the difference between me and her is that, I would have introduced you to my friends. I don't want to make any more judgements from there b/c I really don't know. Edit to add: you're right, it does disapper. But when I went back to edit my post, the words were there I wonder if anyone else on support knows about this.

i would have done that too if we were going out in a group, but i didn't introduce her to my mate either, it just didn't seem particularly appropriate somehow.
she can be quite strange at times. one time in a lecture i saw her sitting on her own so i went to sit next to her and said hello and we started chatting. then one of my friends spotted me and came and sit next to me on the other side - i turned to say hello and she got a bit pissed off and said "oi! a little attention over here, please!" and i calmly explained that i was only saying hello ... then one of her friends came in and sat behind her and she started talking to her ignoring me ... mental ...
i know i like her a lot because whenever i talk to her my mind's a blank and i come out with the most ridiculous pile of poo (i think the phrase "tongue-tied" would be most apt here) whereas if i'm with girls that are just friends and i have no intention of taking it further i can be witty and cool and generally lovely ... and she seems to be the same around me, which i suppose might be a good sign ... i wish i could meet her at a party where i know most of the people there, then she can see the real me ...

The incident with your friend was probably just an attetion-getter, or she really does have issues. That's rude. But then again, maybe she was asking that you introduce her to your friends at that time. She probably kept that mind so when you expected her to introduce you to her friends, she pulled the same thing you did, only more exaggerated and refused to even acknowledge you. Got the drift? What the hell do I know? I'm no ordinary girl!

well, she should be back from her trip to amsterdam by now (probably got back on sunday or monday) but she hasn't phoned yet ... what do you think, should i just leave it or should i keep hassling her? i'm not gonna do anything for a few more days, i'm thinking, and if i do feel like getting in contact i'll probably just give her a ring (rather than a txt which only gets me pissed off when she doesn't reply and rather than go see her in person in case she thinks i'm stalking her or something). on the other hand i might just forget about it, i dunno

littlepea, I think you should ask her out. And that doesn't mean telling her "give me a ring" or "txt me". That means saying, "You want to go to _____ with me on _____ night?"
If you don't, I'd say you'll be waiting for her to make the first move until the cows come home...

huff, why is it always the man who has to make the first move? damn feminists wanting the right to do everything and the obligation to do nothing ... grrr ... it's a sad state of affairs, but it's true that i will have to make the first move. i'm just wondering if she's refusing to call me because she doesn't want to see me or if she's refusing to call me because she's got no money on her phone or if she's refusing to call me because she's shy and doesn't want to make the first move etc. i've a busy couple of days ahead of me, i'll see if i can fit it in somewhere ... i'll keep you updated though
