When it comes to Christian art (or any religious art), I can be very picky. But I've never come across stuff this good. Check it out. Isn't it awesome?

Those are great... they remind me a little bit of one of my favorite artists... here. This one is also a favorite, as is this one.

Oh wow, I liked the two last ones the most. Real art is so expensive which is why I prefer to buy prints. They look just as beautiful except you might not have the real thing where you can actually feel the work of the artist (for example, an oil painting). The "He Lives" pic is awesome. Thomas Blackshear seems to be a really good artist. I might check more into him.

Thomas Blackshear is great... most of what he does is more spiritual than specifically Christian. The "He Lives" one is actually by an artist named Simon Dewey. Here's another link. I've been saving my pennies for a few years to get the framed print.

How did you figure out what the name of the piece was? I didn't see it on that page.

That's bad that a site that shows art doesn't put the titles of the pieces.

Tara, I agree with you but please remember that armsite is from Armenia and times aren't the best over there. It does seem an obvious necessity to add titles and dates but maybe those that speak English and are hired to create these sites really shouldn't.
They've suffered enough over there and since those details are available, I'll live with it.

quest, does Aivazovsky consider his art to be Christian art?

No Diana. Aivazovsky was a very complex individual. His gift was depicting the oppositions of elemental forces as exist in water. But for the Armenians, the spirit as it exists in light is very important. Aivazovsky did paint some Christian themes and was partof the Armenian church but his Christianity was in the light itself. www.armsite.com/painters/aivazovsky/I live in New York and not far from the Hudson Valley. The Hudson River School of painting began there. They also felt this light. The only one of that school that strikes me as profoundly as Aivazovsky does is Frederic Church. He understood. In the beginning though they were laughed at and the term Hudson River School was derogatory. Now it is revered. You figure that out. Some people feel it and others don't.
