America a land where freedom is made available through the government forcing the best choice of everything on everyone. This is the sort of stuff that makes me wonder what freedoms my kids will have (if any).

Yuck... if they do that I'd expect a lot of folks to invest in backup generators like they did before Y2K.

California is all the time passing nonsense that gets overturned, oft times before it even gets to go into effect.

California is known for being on the cutting (or perhaps bleeding) edge of ecological measures, but it is more than a tad bit ridiculous to think this measure would meet anything but outrage from most folks. The measure itself is actually prudent (as heating and cooling consume massive amounts of energy), but few people are going to see it from that perspective.
