Yes such an action is immoral and just flat out wrong. I'm not too bothered by mixing different animals together, but humans are not animals and no one has a right to create an in-between.
Frankly I don’t think we would be able to produce a living creature that way, but if we did you’d see a whole new level racial issues. If it had a high degree of intelligence its life would be miserable as it would not be accepted by society. The only reasons for such a project I’ve seen was to harvest origins anyway and that has ethical issues like non other

Humans are children of God. Animals are creations of God. That separates us from animals in a very real and strong way.
There was a news report on 7-8 years back about making pig/humans because the heart would be close enough to a human heart to supply all transplant needs.
I've not seen anything about it of late, but there are long waiting lists for organs of all kinds. If someone did pull it off they would make Bill Gates look like Tom Cruse well off but not near the top.

There is no difference between humans and other animals except the normal differences you have between all species.
I can't wait to see all the hybrids and new creations we can make.
My friend has a theory that mankind will make itself into something better. He says we will create stronger smarter creatures that we will eventually choose to replace us.
They have already made a chimp, in which they have mixed in the DNA of humans.

I actually agree with the author of the article: I believe in stem-cell research as a potential for greater cures and regeneration of organs. I do believe, though, that such "artifact" experimentation should be under careful observation. I don't believe the chimeras would make us less human, but treating life that we create in a lab as purely object without sympathy or only for curiousity does make us less human.
Although if we do make something better than us, how would we react to it?
::thinks of Nightcrawler from X-Men - hated because he looked less than human, but acted more morally and humanely than most people::

I had a cool computer game once (Star Control) Anyhow it came with some short stories about life in their universe. Anyhow Earth had made clones to do their dirty work and they were treated as sub human. One day they all packed up and left and then came back with a vengeance. There is also Jurassic Park to keep in mind. I don’t know if any of those sort of things will happen, but as the one guy in JP said they spent so much time wondering if they could they never stopped to think whither or not they should.
I’m very opposed to the idea on moral grounds and mildly concerned on the practicality of the whole thing.
