Laloba presented a poem that can be found in General Religon in the thread "God,yes...Unicrns,no...huh?" that reminded me of something I've read in a book about a man-made ghost named Philip. It was actually an experiment where a group of people were supposed to create an entirely ficticious character with a background and history and everything. Soon enough this "ghost" actually came to "life", knocking over tables and all that stuff. It's an interesting story check it out What do you think of things like that?

My house is haunted, but the ghosts don't normally bother me. The only time I had a problem is when one of them started playing around with the oven, turning the heat up and my food almost burned. Then, I had an electric blanket that I had to unplug during the day because if I didn't, I would come home to find it had been mysteriously turned on.

What if that's just a power surge though? I remember one day I came home from a Renaisance fair late at night and went online. At around 12 all the lights started flickering in my house. I was scared and took my dog and to the end of our driveway with my mom on the phone. I was so spooked. It sounded like there was some sort of spark or something going on downstairs in the recroom. But when everybody came home, people thought I was nuts. Nobody believed me. But after talking about it a little, it turned out the treadmill (that hasn't been used in over a year) was plugged in and we just assumed it was a power surge b/c of recent storms. But it is a little amusing to think it was some sort of haunting or something. But I steered less and less from it b/c I trusted my dog might have sensed something and he was looking around like, "What are we doing outside at this time?". lol

In conclusion the experimenters succeeded far beyond their wildest expectations. However, in the end they were never able to prove the ‘how’ and the ‘why’ behind Philip’s manifestation. Was Philip a direct result of the group’s collective subconscious or perhaps did they conjure an actual entity that simply latched onto the story? We may never be able to actually answer these questions in regards to this particular case. However, the Philip phenomenon remains not only a groundbreaking experiment, but an important historical account of para-reasearch efforts in Canada.I've heard of this before. It's interesting, and I must say that I've long considered the idea of my subconscious creating ghostly images and noises and what have you, but the one thing that keeps me from accepting this idea is the simple fact that I've never heard/read any conclusive evidence that people can make things move [long distances] via their subconscious, and in such a way that whatever is being moved is directed at themselves with the intent of harm. Not to mention that I know I did not push myself down my stairs years ago. lol Edit to add: I think another experiment should be conducted whereby two groups of people are brought to a house that's said to be haunted. One group is made aware of the alleged haunting, the other is not and will not know until the experiment is concluded. Both groups will spend the night at the house and will be asked the next day if they saw or heard any ghostly activity. I'd be interested to know the outcome of this.

I once took a tour of a supposedly haunted town: Decatur, Illinois. It was a Halloween night, and we were taken to sites where there had been reported hauntings. This was back when I had an interest in such things. Anyway, we spent the whole night going from one to the next, and ended up at midnight in the graveyard.
It was an interesting but uneventful night.

I've heard of how hotels might add a ghost story and try to get people all haunted. People get so amped up and they actually start seeing things. What are these...mind games?

Do you believe in ghosts? Care to explain your reasons? I voted Yes because my wife and I can see them. Agnes my wife can see Ghost and other elementals.
While I can see Ghost and Angels, Devas and Nature Spirits.

Most or some of this Ghost feed on People's fear. They suck on those energies.

Well I've never seen a ghost, but I'm a Christian so I believe in angels and stuff it would make sense that that bad guy has some working for him. And who’s to say that when you die your spirit goes far away?
Anyhow I have been to a few places that I can say had a vary dark presence in them.

I doubt most ghosts are evil, though. Most of the ones I've experienced just liked moving objects around or playing pranks on people.

I dont' recall seeing any ghosts per se. But my family and I are trying to figure out if what we see floating around in our house is really a ghost or some random phenomenon. A friend of mine who claims they can speak to spirits did a little something for me. They said it was nothing harmful, but rather something to protect. Who knows if they were contacting the right thing or not.

How long have you noticed it? If it's been there for awhile but nothing negative has happened, I woudn't worry

Yeah, quite a few people told me that. I'm not too worried and my dog doesn't seem like he's too worried either.
