I've been giving a lot of thought to this for awhile and I need to leave this discussion board. I will miss our conversations and my friends here, but I think a serious storm of oppression is coming and while I have a duty to my fellow man I also have a duty to my family. So I've decided to hide out for awhile. I don't know the exact form the oppression will take, but from the history of this nation and the strong feelings I see around me I think it will get very bad. Maybe not for a year or two, but I think we will see deaths on a scale not seen on this soil sense the civil war.
Best of luck to all of you.
If/when I think it is again safe for my family for me to open up my big mouth I'll try to come back.

For all our sakes, may you be completely wrong. While I do not think we agree on the reasons why, I too fear that the world will see worse times in the coming decades and centuries. Simply put, there are too many people, and that number is constantly increasing. Eventually, the number of humans on this small sphere must decrease dramatically, and I fear that this won't happen in an entirely organized or peaceful fashion. To be clear, I do not necessarily mean oppression or genocide here, but more so natural processes; I fear that the floods and tsunamis we have seen so far are only a prelude to what is to come. These are dark times. Times, I think, when the world as a whole must face a time-honored truth: "United we stand, divided we fall."
