This one? crap. I don't remember the last time we were able to afford something like that. Yep that is the one I am getting! I used the strech pay to make it easier on me cause I don't have 1,400 bucks right now. Can't wait to try out movies, my xbox on it, basketball games etc!

Don't they charge interest? If they do, in the end, you'll be paying more than the original intended price. It's like you're paying them to wait. Think it's worth it?

i dunno exactly what stretch pay is, but i take it you get it delivered immediately but pay for it over the course of a few (or many) months? i'm sure it will cost more over time, but you get it sooner than if you had to wait to save up all your cash before ordering it, so you can think of the interest as payment for the hire of the thing until you can afford it.
it's kind of similar to a mortgage: most people don't have enough money in their bank accounts to actually buy a house outright, so they borrow money under the condition that if they don't keep up payments then the lender can sell the house to recoup what he's owed, yet who would argue that a mortgage isn't worth it?

Well I paid with my debit card and yes I am paying like 5 monthly payments. As far I know I am paying only 259.99 for 5 months, I don't think they would charge interest but if they do God will give me the money to pay for it. I am not worried about paying alittle extra if I have to in interest just to get it. I have tried to save up the 1,400 bucks but it didn't work out that way so I asked God to put one of the projectors on sale to where I could afford it and that is what happened

well either that works out as $1299.95 altogether, ie. less than $1400 (which is almost certainly not the case) or you paid some kind of initial payment and then you have a further 5 payments to make. if your initial payment (as i would assume) was also $259.99, then that would mean you pay $1559.94 averall - $160 more than what it would cost to get it now. but then you can think of it as $32 per month to rent it for 5 months before buying it - $32 a month isn't a huge amount of money and almost certainly worth the hassle it'll save in trying to save up the money to buy it in one go.
of course if you had the money spare to buy it in one go then there would be no point in doing the stretch pay thing, but since you don't then this scheme certainly seems to work to your advantage.

I'm not sure I get it... Why is saving money a hassle but paying more money seems doable?
The reason a mortgage is worth it is because you have to pay someone no matter where you live... and with interest rates as low as they've been, my mortgage payment is the same amount as rent would be. If I sell my house, I'll have equity -- instead of walking away from an apartment with nothing.
It's different from incurring debt just to have something sooner than you can afford it.

Well, to be honest, I wouldn't have done what spiritman has done. Like some of you may know, I'm a penny pincher. I wait until my priorities are all paid for first, then check out how much I have left. If what I want is worth using the rest of my money for, then I would see how long it would take to save up to buy it. If I don't think it's worth the wait, then I'll just oogle unil something better or more worthwhile comes along. You'll be surprised how things work out.
I've always wanted those cool mini-waterfalls/fountains that people have in their rooms. You know, the small ones that can be anywhere from a foot to two feet tall? The ones where you assemble yourself? Everytime I'd go to the mall and check out those science and discovery stores with these things, I'd fantasise about having one in my room. But I look at the price and I see them going anywhere between $50 to $80 and even more. Well guess what happens? I went to a tag sale last year (I love tag sales) and I spotted the fountain in it's orignal package. Unopened and not used. And guess how much I got the thing for? $20. I mean, c'mon, how cool is that?
So that's how I operate. I knew I didn't need the fountains in the stores when I first spotted it. Yet, I still wanted it and saved my money and stuff. And then I get a neat little deal. It happens often. Another time was with ths poster I wanted and just with a turn of some strange events, I get it for half price.
I think it has to do with patience, butthere are times when I definately lack that. lol

Well I wanted to say is I am not being charged interest because I paid with a debit card, not a credit card...so the monthly payments will be taken directly out of my account. I am glad that I got it when I did because they took the deal off that I got and put another deal up but not with 5 pay.

How come it's different if you use a credit card?

I'm not sure I get it... Why is saving money a hassle but paying more money seems doable? it's just like spiritman said, he tried saving up but it didn't work out, people wouldn't take out loans if they didn't gain some kind of convenience from it, you know? maybe you would avoid a loan if possible, but it's still a reasonable option. anyway, if you're not paying any interest then it sounds like a really good deal, so good on you

oh, and the credit card thing - i dunno why it's different but there are differences in the UK as well. i ordered a £200 graphics card for my PC with my debit card but i couldn't have it sent to a different delivery address from billing address, though if i had a credit card then i could have had a different delivery address (which is what i actually wanted to do).

I guess it depends on what's most important to you. He like sto watch a lot of movies. It's more important to him than it is for me and others who don't watch a lot of tv.

I finally got it and it is Awesome! I love it and I have not even put up the 106" screen yet...right now I am just projecting it on a white wall that needs to be painted but so far looks great! It does make you feel like you are in a theater now I just have to buy a digital optical for it so I can hook up my surround sound to it! The only thing I don't like is the smell that the new lamp bulbs give out but it goes away after a while and the price of a new bulb which is $300 bucks or so. :eek
