Polytheist has stolen the words out of my mouth, though I daresay he has said them better. I focused in paticular on psychopaths, which may have made my argument more confusing than necessary, and, more importantly, long winded.

i see your point, but would you go as far as to say it's like blaming tobacco companies for cancer caused by cigarettes?

My understanding is that the tabacco companies are being blamed more for the lies in connetion with advertising their product moreso than for the effects of it.
I Do not see how the tobacco company is to lame for persons who get cancer. You do not see the alcohol companies being blamed for the DWI's and DUI's, related medicalconditions, and deaths from alcohol related accidents, so why should the tobacco companies be held responsible for the medical conditions of those who WILLINGLY[/i] use their product?

. Would it even make game prices go even higher than they already are? Scary thought ;D As for blaming the tobacco companies, the way I see things is it's just more people who aren't willing to take responsibility for their choices. Smoking is something people do because they have free will, and having the power of free will should mean that you're wise and mature enough to accept consequences as well. Are we going to sue athletic wear companies now because somebody got injured during sports while wearing their shoes?

Don't get me started on shoes. I guess you can blame them; comfort sells, not protection.

there's a difference between blaming and suing, of course

Yes there is. Suing is done after one has set blame.
Then the courts have to decide if the ones being sued are actually to blame (or if they even share the blame) and if they are to blame (or at the very least share in the blame) the court decides what the compensation is to be.

Anyone ever played Manhunt. That is one hell of a violent computer game! It was actually banned in several contries. But it doesn't make me want to go around strangling people with plastic bags when I'm on the streets.

On the videogames, such things are funny, especially when the graphics suck. But in real life, you can forget it.

Oh, the graphics! The other day, I was playing the original Resident Evil game and thinking about how good it was for it's time but how crappy and fake the graphics are now. Remember the older video games? When I was a kid, I had an Atari; the games were good for what they were back then, but it's amazing to see how far we've come with graphics.

i'd heard that manhunt was banned in several countries and it's also been blamed for several murders committed by teenagers who played it, if i remember correctly. not that they're going to sue the developers, of course

well, i dunno if it's been blamed but it's been mentioned. there was something recently about a girl who was murdered in england and the court decided it was the boyfriend who did it (both were about 15 or something) and it was mentioned that he smoked an enormous amount of hash (200 joints a week was something i heard) and played a computer game called manhunt.
i'm sure cenk will have heard about it but i can't remember the girl's name. it was all over the news a couple of months ago - the name jodie mitchell is in my head but i couldn't find anything about it, so i guess that wasn't her name.
of course, i could be confusing two different cases that i heard about ...

it was mentioned that he smoked an enormous amount of hash (200 joints a week was something i heard) Knowing this, it seems doubtful to place full blame on Manhunt
