Dark SUV Sought in Ala. Church Fires ProbeBy JAY REEVES, Associated Press Writer BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Federal agents said Wednesday they were looking for a dark sport utility vehicle in the investigation of nine rural Alabama church fires. Two members of Old Union Baptist Church in Bibb County said they saw just such a vehicle driving slowly by the church at Brierfield when they arrived moments after the fire was set around 4:05 a.m. Friday. "They were looking at the church when I spotted them," one of the witnesses, Alvin Lawley, told The Associated Press in an interview Wednesday. "It was like they wanted to see what they had done." ( continue) What do you guys think is going on? Why only Baptist churches? And what do you think of the motives of those in the vehicle? Do you really think they were there at the scene of the crime out of curiosity or something else?

Well if I was to take a guess I'd say it is because Baptists more than many other Christians are very overt in their beliefs. Mormons and Jehovah Whiteness are similar in this. This gets you noticed if you are noticed you are more likely to be hated than the less overt persons who might be hated.
Frankly I think if you have to resort to violence against someone’s religion it only serves to prove that they are doing something right.

I find that logic faulty. The people of Islam feel their beliefs are always being attacked. But knwoing your beliefs, surely you would not say that they must be doing something right.

Well no offense Tara, but you do not understand my beliefs if you assume that. Do I think the Baptists are doing or teaching everything 100% right no, but they are doing a lot of good and they do teach a lot of truth. I don’t want to get into a my religion vs. theirs debate, but on the whole most of the Baptists I have known are good faithful people who try to follow Christ to the best of their ability. Therefore they are doing a lot even if (in my opinion) not all right.

Why does this church bombing have to do with anything between religions?
Isn't it possible that some neo-Nazis did it?

Well it's true--Baptist's do that. At least at my dad's church. I've always thought it was a bit odd myself.

so what does a uncommon dare I say "odd" religious practice have to do with violence from my understanding it is not any more disturbing to people around than any other religious practice.
Going door to door, loud music, standing on the bus and yelling at everyone. I can see things like that making people dislike you, but why would washing peoples feet cause a problem?
